Peter 'Rusty' Kennedy

Rusty was a familiar site on the dragstrips of the 90 & 00's, taking home many trophies driving his High-powered Capris

He is most famous for his Ford Capri 4x4 Cosworth, affectionately known as 'WOO'.

WOO was hand built by Rusty in 1993, she was built for one reason & one reason only, to dominate the 1/4 mile.

Rusty became even more well known when he was invited to the 'Max Power Live' shows in the early 2000's, wowing the crowds with WOO's explosive power, always with a cheeky smile on his face.

After Max Power rusty was invited to the TopGear track with WOO to feature in a new Special being produced for Jeremy Clarkson. It featured WOO being driven my Vicki Butler-henderson going up against Clarkson in a Holden SV 7 then Clarkson driving her against a £250,000 Brabus Mercedes, both of them losing spectacularly to Woos phenomenal power.

That special was released Christmas 2000 and was called 'Jeremy Clarkson AT FULL THROTTLE', it was the highest selling motoring VHS/DVD that year.

Rusty maintained his presence on the drag strip & magazine circuit all through the 2000's, having features in Fast Ford, Performance Ford ,MaxPower & many many more.

Rusty owned & operated Union Garage In Mossley on the outskirts of Manchester, Union Garage was a Mecca of knowledge and performance for all that came to seek out Rustys expertise in all matter especially those Cosworth related.

In 2016 Rusty began the process of stripping & meticulously restoring his beloved WOO back to her former glory, the process took nearly 4 years to complete, sourcing brand new parts and fully rebuilding her infamous YB engine.

Sadly Rusty passed away just as WOO was nearing completion, at the request of his family Rusty's trusted friends where asked to complete WOO & have her ready to lead Rustys Funeral cortege into his service.

Rusty was honoured on his special day with a high speed drive-by, mainly all the cars he had worked on , driven by friends ,colleagues & clients of Union Garage.

Rusty will always be remembered fondly & will always be in the memories of his family & friends
